You’re right, L J Laubenheimer. Sometimes the clerks can be unobservant, rude, or worse. The thing is it’s good for people to be present in their surroundings and aware of what’s going on. No one actually “knows” what’s in the heart of another person, but occasionally there will be tell-tale signs. It’s always best to afford all people regardless of race, gender, what-have-you, the same level of respect and dignity we would expect were the tables turned.
