Thanks, Eric. You raise a good point about relatively new NFL convention. I’ve read something similar elsewhere. It would not surprise me to find out that the reason the military paid the NFL to start games with tributes focusing on the stars and stripes was to boost enlistment numbers. It also wouldn’t surprise me to find out that those numbers were at an all-time low.

As a 56-year-old black man, I completely, utterly support the kneelers, too. 😉
