Thank YOU, Marie. You are so right. Discomfort, embarrassment, and fear are powerful inhibitors of discussions that need to take place. I’m a firm believer that change can only take place when we (everyone) choose to make our desire to be right secondary to our desire to understand. Generally speaking, once we begin to wrap our brains around how our actions impact others and our own fears and motivations, then we can begin to move toward a solution. But in matters of social injustice, the onus to facilitate change falls squarely (not solely) on those in power.
