Slavery is a by-product of marginalization and privilege at it’s worst. Addressing marginalization and privilege, be it in the first, second, or third world is a start. There’s more than enough marginalization and privilege to make a whole new world. If you’d like to address slavery in Africa, be the change you seek. But since I live in the “first world,” I’m addressing marginalization and privilege and institutional racism where I can be of influence. Frankly, I prefer not to think of the world as tiered or built on a caste system. I subscribe to the view that we’re all in this together.
Until we are all free, we are none of us free.
