Sherry, thanks for the prompt. I hope I made sense. Every Christian, whether a newbie or lifelong, has moments of doubt and questions God. I was one of those people who struggled with faith in the face of organized religion and atrocities committed by the church, but I wanted to know who God was and what he (I, too, see God as genderless, and use “he” because it’s shorthand and sound much better than “it”) had to say to me.

Again to those who think that Christians reflect all that there is to the Divine, I say, don’t let their actions deter you from seeking a relationship with Christ. I blow it all the time. All. The. Time. Despite my best efforts, I know I’ve turned my fair share of people off. It’s not intentional, but it happens. I’m sure there’s some Christians out there who would say that I can’t be a Christian because of my sexuality. But you know what? They need to keep their nose in their own pants. I know what God has revealed to me.

As for faith, faith isn’t this monolithic mechanism that’s set at full bore all day and all night. I have moments when I doubt what I’m doing is really what God would have me do? There are periods of time when I wonder if God is watching what’s going on? I still at this age question God’s plan for me?

I don’t believe any one denomination has all the answers. How could it? Humans are involved and we’ve got limited understanding, but I do think there are some things denominations get right. If you like the teachings you know to be true, don’t let anything stand in your way in pursuing a relationship (which is not a religion) with the one true God. There’s a lot at stake.
