, I didn’t know any of this before, not that it was due. Thank you for sharing this most intimate revelation of the woman you are, the struggles you deal with, the battles you’ve fought and won, and your fortitude.

At the very least, this poem is an unflinching portrait of a beautiful, Black woman with character, who embodies strength, ingenuity, unbridled creativity, and all that is good in humanity. I’m truly honored to be able to call you my friend.

And I now that from where I sit, Angelina can’t hold a candle to you on her best day. Believe it.
