Pam, I’m glad that helped. The last thing I want is for anyone to feel that they’ve been given the heave-ho and not taken seriously. It look me a long time to become comfortable in my own skin, but in doing so, I finally realized that in doing so it give others the freedom to be themselves around me. So you’ve got that figured out and that’s a HUGE thing.

The minute I read about accent, I thought what’s she talking about? Americans love British accents, that’s a great “in.”

It sounds like you have a couple things going for you, just remember to give folks the space to meet you halfway. And sometimes that involves giving people the space and time to approach you. I’m guessing you have a big personality … and I mean that as a compliment.

Here’s a link to a number of my essays on race in America in the publication, Crossin(G)enres. (They’re very nice to me over there.) And if you’re so inclined, there more essays in my publication.

Feel free to reach out anytime and thanks for your time,

Clay.
