NoMoGods, you raise a couple of good points, but you also paint with a pretty broad brush. Not that I claim to be the official voice of all Black America, but I think if you were to conduct a survey of Black Americans, I doubt seriously you would find a sizable percentage who agree with your statement that the world would be better off if all White people suddenly disappeared.

But you’re also correct in that “things like greed, ignorance, and cruelty are human flaws that are equally spread throughout ALL the races.” But we have to start somewhere. I write about race because for some reason it seems to connect with people. Go figure. Rest assured, while I think it’s an very important issue, it’s not tops on my list. I write about it in an effort curb the “stupid” actions of people in regards to this particular.* And the best way to combat stupid actions is through educating people, engaging with them, and offering different options to their current choices. But that dialogue must be done in a manner that is respectful and involves active listening.

Leaving “stupid people” to their own devices is a disservice to everyone in that it only gives them more opportunity to “ruin the planet,” as you said. We’ve got a lot of work to do.

Thanks for commenting.

*Anyone reading this response, please note, I do not in any way think people who’ve read my essays are “stupid.” I’m merely picking up the thread established earlier in NoMo’s response.
