Mick, apology for absence due a brain aneurysm? You’re kidding, right? Don’t be silly. There is absolutely no need for an apology. Congratulations on your recovery! I’m sure there’s some great writing waiting to be born of your experiences. And thank you for the kudos … just plugging along here.

I bet growing up surrounded by various elements of Black culture was personally enriching, to say the least. Once you see racism, privilege, and the like, you can’t unsee it. But people can choose to ignore it. As I’m sure you’ve read in some of my posts, the end game isn’t to “get it completely” as that’s an impossible goal. The goal is to take what you know and put it to use in calling out instances of racism right where you are, in your sphere of influence.

And you weren’t rambling at all. Welcome back and again congratulations on your recovery. Those brain cells seem to be working just fine.

Go ahead and testify — and everybody said, “Amen!”
