Michael, greetings. Let me ask, have you read the documents cited. Granted, they are drafted by the politicians, but those are the same politicians who represent the people. If the majority of average white southerner didn’t support the way of life, there would be documented incidents of a civil war of sorts in the south over the Civil War.
And I’m not going to have a discussion about the word “all” and a worldview of absolutes. We’re both too smart for that and I don’t have time for that red herring.
There are indeed a lot of half-truths floating around that exist out of a lack of awareness of reality and are often used to whip up the masses. The existence of half-truths and fallacies does mean that verifiable facts should be discounted. There are a great number of facts to which half-truths do not and can not compete.
There’s a lot of good going on in the world, but if you’re looking to find the bad, that’s what you’ll see. There will always be people who want to maintain the status quo, if for no other reason than to maintain their position of power. If you don’t see people trying to make this a better world, you’re not looking in the right places.
Thanks for joining the conversation!
