Let’s make a deal, Medium. I’ll continue to pay my $5 membership fee if you make some efforts in putting the writers I WANT TO READ in my feed so my fee supports them and their awesomeness that keeps bringing me back.

Let’s be clear here. The ONLY frigging way the Big Brains at Medium are going to give us what we want is if the vast majority of us cut off the subscriptions and simply stop using the service. Till then, we’re at their mercy. And we’re paying them to enact this lunacy.
They want us to spend more time here. And it’s working. We’re spending much too much time hunting down genres and writers we like and trying to cobble together that sense of community that once permeated a few corners of Medium.
We’re all smart enough to know what we want: a customized homepage so we can read exactly what the hell we want. But they’re playing Where’s Waldo with that content.
How do they know what we want? The algorithms.
And those bastards probably have them set to bury that which we each enjoy … stories of our own choosing. What they don’t realize is that if they were to give us that which we love, we’d probably spend even more time here.
Why not do that, Ev? Oh yeah, thats right. Because that makes too much sense.
