I’m of the mind that all institutions — well, anything humans set their hands to, for that matter — will be inherently flawed in one way or another thanks to humanity’s inherent brokenness; but that’s no license to forego reaching for standards beyond our grasp.

Maybe particular churches aren’t stepping forward in unison as denominations, but there are plenty of individuals who are appalled at hypocrisy. I’m just one of many. The thing is: what do we do? Go with the flow? Try to stem the tide? Take a stand? When you get down to it, there’s only a few options, but a ton of different ways to enact them

Your Y’s summer food program sounds like it’s rooted in Christ’s teachings. All we have to do is keep our eyes on him. (I’m telling myself this as well.)
