John, thanks for your time. One thing I touched on briefly at the onset of the essay was the inspiration for this essay. The woman who inspired this is probably one of the most capable people to address racism from vantage point of academic and lived experience. And I’m certain she’s not the only one. There are PLENTY of White people with personal stories to tell.
I’m convinced that people can leave racist mindset and move to a more inclusive mindset when a) they want to change, b) they know change is possible, and c) when they know how. And that’s really the underlying purpose of this piece: to quietly encourage others to lead by example.
