1. I’m thankful to be around this Christmas. No, I’m suffering from some life-threatening illness, but I know a dozen—yes, I said a dozen—people who are battling for their lives with cancer or some other insidious disease.
  2. I’m thankful that my half-sister joined us for Christmas this year. It was the first time ever due to circumstances beyond her control. Having someone who’s not normally around in the mix is refreshing.
  3. I’m thankful that my mother, at 84 years of age, is still in her right mind, physically active, and that our relationship is good. I see what others my age are going through now—losing parents to death or watching an debilitating illness slowly end their lives … yeah, I’m grateful everyday.

I think that’s enough for now.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
